The Vesci’s $8 million estate gift—the Children’s Hospital’s largest gift ever—helped birth a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and establish endowments for pediatric intensive care, lung, and gastrointestinal programs.

A $5 million gift from the Panda Cares Foundation, the philanthropic effort of Panda Express, funded a new activity room for Child Life Services to provide engagement with school-aged patients in art, music, school activities, and high-tech video and computer production. Known as the Panda Cares Center of Hope, the services provided in the space will help meet the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of our young patients.

To remove barriers for children in foster care and help ensure that their foundational needs are met, Katy and Dale Carlsen gave $4.5 million to UC Davis Health. The gift provided start-up funds for the CIRCLE Clinic, Comprehensive Integration of Resilience into Child Life Experiences, as well as an endowment for sustained support. The first of its kind in Northern California, the CIRCLE Clinic provides medical services for children in the foster care system, offering them access to a primary care medical home from UC Davis pediatricians, mental and behavioral health services, and other health-related care.
